Economy unquestionably facing a dire situation: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has issued a stark warning about the precarious state of the economy, urging the necessity of making bold decisions to avert a worsening crisis.

Speaking at the National Economic Debate in Kathmandu on Thursday, PM Dahal emphasized that the nation’s economy remains in a critical condition.

He said, “The economy is unquestionably facing a dire situation. Failing to proactively adopt bold measures may lead us into even more challenging circumstances.”

He added, “This issue is multi-faceted, spanning internal, national, and international aspects. Yet, the ultimate determinant lies within ourselves. It falls upon Nepal’s political parties, economists, and business leaders to play pivotal roles in charting the course for Nepal’s economic future.”

PM Dahal further said that while external factors are inevitable in today’s global landscape, Nepal’s own actions are decisive.

Prime Minister Dahal further drew parallels between Nepal and Sri Lanka, underscoring the gravity of the situation both nations are confronting.
