Meeting of Socialist Front postponed

KATHMANDU: The Samajwadi Morcha (Socialist Front), a loose forum consisting of four left-leaning political parties, has postponed its meeting scheduled for today afternoon.

The meeting has been postponed after Sita Dahal, wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, passed away.

Sita passed away today morning while undergoing treatment at the Norvic Hospital in Thapathali.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 4 o’clock at the party office of the Unified Socialist Party, located in Aloknagar.

The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for organizing programs across all seven provinces, with the aim of raising awareness among the public about the relevance of the Front.

To shed light on the purpose and justification of the alliance, the Front is planning programs in all seven provinces. Rajendra Pandey, the Vice-President of the Unified Socialist Party, stated that the meeting would address the necessary preparations for these upcoming events.

“We will be organizing programs in all seven provinces to educate people about the purpose behind the formation of the Front from the last week of July,” said Pandey.

Furthermore, the Samajwadi Morcha has established a task force, consisting of one representative from each of the member parties.

Dev Gurung from the Maoist Center, Pramesh Hamal from the Unified Socialist Party, Rajendra Shrestha from the Janata Samajwadi Party, and Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma from the Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party have been appointed to this task force.

The Front includes the Maoist Center, Unified Socialist Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, and the Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand.
