PM Dahal’s wife Sita passes away



KATHMANDU: Sita Dahal, wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ passed away during treatment on Wednesday. She was 69.

Professor Dr. Yuvraj Sharma of Norvic Hospital Thapathali said that she passed away at 8:33 am on Wednesday.

Prime Minister’s wife Sita Dahal was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning for treatment after the oxygen content in her body decreased.

The hospital declared her dead.

Sita had long suffered from a complex form of Parkinson’s disease called ‘progressive supranuclear palsy’ (PSP), which cannot be completely cured.

Prime Minister Prachanda’s Secretariat said that her body will be kept at the party office from 11 am to 1 am.

Her funeral will be held today at 2 pm at Pashupati Aryaghat, the secretariat said.

Sita was born on July 5, 1954 in Hemja of Kaski to mother Harikala Paudel and father Maheshwar Paudel.

She was married to Prachanda in 1969.
