KATHMANDU: Nepal entered the second round of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers by beating the Northern Mariana Islands by a 6-0 goal difference on Sunday.
At the match played at Faisal Al Hussaini International Stadium, Nepal scored 5 goals in the first half and one goal in the second half.
In Nepal’s victory, Deepa Shahi and Sara Bajracharya scored 2 goals each, while Saraswati Hamal and Jennifer Rana scored one goal each.
After this victory, Nepal won both its matches in Group ‘B’ and reached the second stage with 6 points. Nepal defeated Palestine by 6-0 in the first match.
A total of 8 countries will be selected in the second phase, Which will be divided into two groups and the best 4 teams will play the U-20 Women’s Asian Cup in Uzbekistan. The second phase will be held from June 3 to 11.
So far, Australia, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Iran have been selected for the second stage.
The U-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2024 will be held in Uzbekistan from March 3 to 16. 16 teams will compete in the U-20 Women’s Asian Cup.
