Govt decides to set up ‘Labor Helpdesk’ in all Nepali diplomatic missions



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’-led government has decided to set up ‘Labor Helpdesk’ in Nepali embassies abroad.

According to Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has decided to set up help desks in embassies at the special initiations of Prime Minister Dahal.

In the third week of January, the Prime Minister called the officials of the Ministry, including the Labor Secretary, and directed them to set up help desks in the embassies to serve the Nepalis working abroad.

“Many Nepalis living abroad have been encountering many problems and sufferings during their foreign employment, set up a desk to deal with the problems of the Nepali workers living abroad,” he said.

Following the instructions of the Prime Minister, after completing the homework, the ministry has decided to set up a separate focal desk to address the problems of labors and workers working in different countries abroad.

“The Prime Minister was interested in the problems of Nepali workers abroad and asked to set up a helpdesk. After the instructions of the Prime Minister, we have done the necessary homework and reached this decision,” Labor, Employment and Social Security Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal said while informing the Ministry’s decision, “We believe that this decision of the government will help in the professional rights, security and promotion of all workers abroad. We will implement the decision effectively.”

Likewise, it has been decided to set up a separate ‘Dedicated Focal Point’ in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate the resolution of workers’ problems. It is expected that the problems of workers in different countries abroad will be solved immediately.
