Nepal Police and APF Nepal teams leave for USA



KATHMANDU: A team comprising the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal and the Officiating Inspector General of Nepal Police has left for the United States of America today.

The team will participate in the conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to be held October 14-17 in California, USA. APF Inspector General Raju Aryal and Deputy Inspector General Shambhu Subedi are also in the team.

APF Additional Inspector General Narayan Datta Poudel has been assigned to look after the responsibilities of the IGP during the absence of IGP Aryal.

Similarly, a three-member team headed by Officiating IGP, Additional Inspector General Tek Prasad Rai, and comprising senior officials of Nepal Police on Tuesday left for the USA in connection with participating in the same program. AIG Rai is accompanied by Deputy Inspectors General Durga Singh and Kedar Dhakal.

Additional Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa has been assigned the responsibility of looking after the daily administrative functions of the Nepal Police Headquarters during the absence of Officiating IGP, Nepal Police.

The Police Headquarters has said discussions would be held in the conference on a range of topics including the forthcoming plan on Interpol and international policing relations, on empowering the victims of human trafficking as per the concept of community-police collaboration, and enhancing trust of law enforcement bodies.

Before this, a four-member team led by Inspector General Basanta Bahadur Kunwar and comprising the senior officials of Nepal Police on October 7 left for the United Kingdom at the invitation of the British government to participate in the integrated programme on security and strengthening of justice to be held on October 9-13.
