BIRATNAGAR: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav has asserted that the existing constitutional provisions governing government formation and the electoral system contain significant flaws, prompting the need for amendments.

Speaking to the media at Biratnagar Airport on Monday, Yadav emphasized the imperative for a thorough review and amendment of the Constitution to rectify these issues.

Yadav expressed concern over the prevalent constitutional provision that allows for a complex five-stage process in such scenarios, which he believes needs correction. He stated, “The structural framework of the parliamentary system, as outlined in the constitution, warrants reconsideration.”

Additionally, Yadav highlighted flaws in the election system and asserted that it is essential to amend the constitution to reform both the government’s structure and the election process.

Yadav’s calls for constitutional amendments come as a significant development in the ongoing political discourse in Nepal especially after the turmoil resulted in Koshi province due to majority vote holder parties failure to garner vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.
