Six, including five Mexicans and a Nepali pilot killed in Manang Air chopper crash in Solukhumbu

KATHMANDU: A tragic helicopter crash in Nepal’s Solukhumbu district claimed the lives of six individuals on Tuesday morning, including a Nepali pilot and five Mexican nationals.

The missing helicopter belonging to Manang Air was discovered crashed in Solukhumbu district after being reported missing earlier that morning.

Manang Air confirmed that the victims of the crash were pilot CB Gurung and passengers Sifuentes Fernando, Gonzalex Abrica, Gonzalex Olacio Luzins, Sifuentes Moaria Jose, and Rincon Ismarlink, all of Mexican nationality.

The ill-fated helicopter was en route from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu when it lost contact with authorities near Lamzura in Solukhumbu.

Police Assistant Inspector Nirajan Basnet, who arrived at the crash site, stated that the accident occurred in the Lamjura area.

The helicopter with the registration number 9N-AMV took off from Surke Airport at 10:04 am and lost contact above an altitude of 12,000 feet, as confirmed by Gyanendra Bhul, the Manager at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
