Missing Manang Air chopper found crashed in Solukhumbu

Six people, including pilot confirmed dead (with names)



KATHMANDU: The helicopter of Manang Air, which was missing since Tuesday morning, has been found crashed in Solukhumbu district on Tuesday afternoon.

The helicopter flying from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu lost contact from Lamzura in Solukhumbu this morning.

According to Manang Air, bodies of six people, including pilot CB Gurung, passengers Sifuentes Fernando, Gonzalex Abrica, Gonzalex Olacio Luzins, Sifuentes Moaria Jose, and Rincon Ismarlink of Mexico were killed in the crash.

Police Assistant Inspector Nirajan Basnet, who reached the accident site, said that the helicopter had crashed in the Lamjura area.

A helicopter belonging to Manang Air, en route from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu, had gone missing after losing contact on Tuesday morning.

The helicopter –9N-AMV, which departed Surke Airport at 10:04 am for Kathmandu lost contact at an altitude above 12,000 feet shortly, according to Gyanendra Bhul, Manager at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA.
