Passenger vehicles asked to carry dustbins



TANAHU: Byas Municipality of Tanahun has written to the local public transport committees to ensure that all passenger vehicles have a dustbin to collect garbage from passengers.

A correspondence has been made with instructions for the management of mandatory Dustbins in vehicles that provide public transport service within the municipality area, confirmed Chief Administrative Officer Gangalal Subedi.

The transport committees have also been asked to inform the passengers not to throw garbage outside of the vehicle.

Anyone found littering against the said provision will be fined be Rs 3,000 for the first offense and Rs 7,000 for the second offense.

The municipality has written to Prithviraj Marg Transport Committee, Local Transport Pvt. Ltd., Byasabhumi Transport Pvt. Ltd., Taxi Entrepreneurs Committee and Auto Rickshaw Traders Committee.

In addition, the municipality has appealed to all concerned not to carry out business in the streets and intersections and slaughter animals for meat only in designated places.

The Byas Municipality is currently disposing of garbage around Buddhasingh Highway in Ward No. 13.

It is looking for a permanent place to set up a landfill site for disposal of waste collected from the municipality.
