Home Minister Shrestha assures of tougher action against people involved in fake Bhutanese refugee scam



KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said the government would crack down on the nexus involved in the scam of sending people to the US in the cover of Bhutanese refugees.

During his meeting with the leaders of Unified Socialist and representatives party-affiliated organizations here on Thursday, the Minister said anyone else found guilty in the case would be prosecuted while no innocent would be blamed for the incident.

Describing the scam as one of the forms of organized crime and “a crime against the State, he said this is not just a case of corruption; it is an organized crime involving the people from top to bottom. This is the crime against the State to make the people Statelessness.”

Stating that he faced no political pressure for actions against the scandal, he pledged to conclude the matter substantively.

He took time to say that he found Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as his strong back support in regard to the government’s action against the fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, he has already directed the police administration to go with the investigations against the case confidently.

As Shrestha said, he has told the police administration that he was there to face any sort of possible political pressure against the investigation.

The Unified Socialist leaders applauded the government’s move in the case and expressed their solidarity with its actions against the crime.
