Election for HoR Speaker to be held on January 19



KATHMANDU: The election for the post of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been scheduled for coming January 19.

Eldest member of the HoR Pashupati Shumsher Rana shared the information at the House session on Tuesday.

He has designated general-secretary of the federal parliament secretariat, Bharat Raj Gautam, as the election officer for the election.

As per the Constitution, the election to the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be held within 15 days after the first meeting of the HoR.

The first meeting of the HoR after the parliamentary election was held on January 9.

Next meeting of the HoR shall take place at 11:00 am on January 19.
