KATHMANDU: Taradhwoj Pandey, a Major General of the Nepali Army (NA), has tendered his resignation following an investigation into discrepancies surrounding his date of birth.
Sources within the military said that Pandey submitted his resignation on Thursday evening, raising questions about his age as he was on the verge of being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
An internal inquiry was initiated after a complaint surfaced, alleging that Pandey’s age had been modified in his citizenship records.
Pandey, slated to be the next Chief of Army Staff, assumed the role following the conclusion of Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma’s term on September 9, 2024.
Documents reveal inconsistencies in Pandey’s date of birth. Conflicting information indicates that his birth year is recorded as both 2021 BS and 2023 BS.
