Mugu murder: Brother-in-law and uncle arrested

MUGU: In a shocking turn of events, it has come to light that four members of Chayanath Rara Municipality 6 in Mugu fell victim to a meticulously planned robbery, resulting in their tragic demise.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police arrested two individuals, the brother-in-law Gorkharaj Shahi Thakuri, 31, hailing from Chisapani, Banke Kohalpur, and the uncle Gopal Bohra, 31, a resident of the deceased family’s village in Mugu, both charged with the murder.

Gorkharaj, who had initially fled after the crime, was arrested by the CIB team on November 6 from Birendranagar in Surkhet.

Following his arrest, evidence pointed to Gopal’s involvement, leading to his subsequent capture by the police from Gamgarhi Ward No. 2 in Mugu on November 7, a day after Gorkharaj’s arrest.

The police are poised to release further details about the case today.

The victims, Sridevi Bohara, her 11-year-old son Manoj Bohora, 7-year-old daughter Apsara Bohara, and 8-month-old son Rahar Bohara, were ruthlessly murdered inside their residence on the night of October 25.

Gorkharaj, the alleged mastermind, is Sridevi’s uncle, while Gopal, the co-conspirator, is related to Sridevi as her brother-in-law’s daughter.

The grim incident unfolded on the very day Sridevi returned home after the Dashain festival.

According to investigators, the crime was premeditated, with Gorkharaj having arrived at Gopal’s house a few days earlier to execute the planned robbery.

A Karnali Province Police Office official revealed that the initial motive was a robbery, which later escalated to the brutal slaying of the family.
