CoAS Sharma urges Army rank and file to prioritize greater interests of nation

KATHMANDU: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS), Prabhu Ram Sharma, has urged army personnel to remain alert and not to be swayed by the petty interests of any faction aiming to disrupt stability through baseless and biased arguments.

In his address to the Nepali Army (NA) rank and file on the occasion of his completion of two years in office, the Army Chief advised the NA body to dedicate itself to serving the greater interests of the nation and Nepali.

“The NA since the commencement of Nepal’s unification campaign has its role in protecting and promoting national sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and national unity, by winning the people’s confidence,” he said.

On the completion of two years in office, the CoAS laid wreaths on the ‘Bir Smarak’, the memorial to the brave soldier, at Chhauni and Tundikhel.

He said the NA highly acknowledged the contribution of NA personnel who were injured on duty, wishing them a speedy recovery.

Meantime, the CoAS presented insignias today to Kumar Babu Thapa who was promoted to the post of Major General, and Sudarshan Bista, promoted to Colonel amidst a program at the NA Headquarters, Bhadrakali.
