KATHMANDU: India and Pakistan are set to face off in the Asia Cup today.

The match will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the scheduled start time at 3.30 pm Nepali time.

Today’s India-Pakistan match is a crucial Super Four encounter, and it has been designated as a ‘reserve day’ to ensure that the full quota of overs can be played.

This decision was made following the cancellation of their group stage match due to rain.

This contest marks the return of the arch-rivals India and Pakistan in ODI cricket after a four-year hiatus.

Their last ODI encounter was during the 2019 ODI World Cup, where India emerged victorious, defeating Pakistan by 89 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Since then, the two teams have primarily faced each other in T20 matches.

Pakistan is participating in their second Super Four match after a strong start, defeating Bangladesh by seven wickets on Wednesday.

In the previous Super Four clash, Bangladesh faced a 21-run defeat against Sri Lanka. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will compete for the title.

Pakistan has already announced its playing XI for the match against India on Saturday.

The Pakistan team comprises Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agh, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Fahim Ashraf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf.

On the other hand, India has yet to reveal its lineup, but there is speculation that KL Rahul may be included in today’s match.
