PM Dahal confesses weakness in his controversial statement, vows to exercise caution in the future

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has acknowledged his mistake regarding the controversial remarks he made during a book launch program and has pledged to exercise greater caution when expressing personal emotions in public.

During the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, the Prime Minister admitted that he allowed his emotions to influence him while inaugurating Sardar Pritam Singh’s book.

“In doing so, I unintentionally made the comments out of emotion,” he clarified.

He clarified that Singh had provided shelter to his elder daughter, Gyanu Dahal, who was battling cancer, in Delhi.

“As a grateful father, I wanted to express his gratitude to Singh at the book launch event,” PM Dahal said.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, disrupted the House of Representatives for three days, demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation over the aforementioned controversial remarks.

Earlier on Monday morning, Prime Minister Dahal, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba convened at Singha Durbar to discuss the removal of the parliamentary obstruction.
