President Bhandari emphasizes investment in agriculture for self-sufficient economy



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that chemical fertilizers should be provided on time to end the problem of fertilizer shortage.

Addressing the joint meeting of both Houses of the Federal Parliament on Friday, President Bhandari said that attention should be paid to the proper use of organic and chemical fertilizers.

The President also drew the government’s attention to the fact that despite some positive signs in the economic indicators, the danger has not decreased yet.

She urged the government to formulate towards becoming self-sufficient by specifying certain food items.

The President further emphasized investment in agriculture for a self-sufficient economy.

President Bhandari also stressed the need to improve the government’s financial policy.

She said that although the external pressure of the economy has decreased, there has been no financial certainty.

“An in-depth study and consultation should be done to solve the problems of the economic sector,” she said adding that in addition to tightening revenue leakage, the area of revenue should be expanded.
