NC should get position of President: Leader Mahat

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said the NC should be provided the position of President.

There is a need to provide this coveted position to the NC for safeguarding the constitution, he said at a press conference organised here today by the Nepal Press Union, Chitwan.

“We have urged all political parties to help the NC’s candidate for the post of President. Positive responses are coming in,” he said.

He went on to say the NC leadership was in need for the country’s economic and social transformation, good governance, development and prosperity.

“We believe that other political parties will feel this sooner or later,” he said. On the possibility for the NC to join the incumbent government, he said there is no such situation wherein the NC could join the government as he said it is at present focusing on the presidential election.

The party is always committed to its ideology, the rule of law, democracy, and good governance, he said.

Commenting on the existing ruling coalition, the leader said the alliance was a climax of ambition.
