Prachanda, Deuba and Oli hold talks to end Parliament deadlock
Top leaders of three political parties met at Baluwatar on Wednesday to address two pressing issues: the recent order from the Supreme Court regarding the Lalita Niwas case and the ongoing deadlock in the Federal Parliament due to UML’s obstruction. Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN-UML Chairnan KP Oli held discussion to end the obstruction initiated by UML party demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee on the one quintal gold smuggling case.
HoR meeting adjourned due to UML’s obstruction
The session of the House of Representatives (HoR) came to an early closure as the proceedings were continually disrupted by members of the CPN-UML. Lawmakers from the CPN-UML, the principal opposition party, voiced their demands through spirited slogans, urging the establishment of a high-level committee to probe the gold smuggling allegations.
20,000 NT recharge cards reported missing
Nepal Telecom (NT) has reported the missing of 20,000 recharge cards, valued at Rs 10 lakh, during their transportation. The Namaste recharge cards, each carrying a value of Rs 50, went missing while en route from Kathmandu to Bhairahwa. This incident was confirmed by Nepal Telecom’s Wireless Services Directorate, located at Babarmahal.
Two killed in Sarlahi flooding; 72 rescued
The incessant rain-triggered flooding took the lives of two people in Sarlahi. As many as 72 people who were taken away by the flood-fed rivulet were rescued. Superintendent of Police (SP) Naresh Raj Subedi informed that Bhola Chaudhary, 60, of Haripurba Municipality-7 who was swept away by the swollen Banke rivulet of Sarlahi died.
NSU cadres rally and chant slogans outside NC central office
Nepal Student’s Union (NSU) members vocalized their sentiments outside the central office of the Nepali Congress (NC) through slogans and protests. The gathering, held on Wednesday, was characterized by both the supporters and detractors of the NC establishment.
National Soil Conservation Day marked today
The National Soil Conservation Day was marked by hosting different programs today. On the occasion, the national day was observed by organizing interactions and plantations in different places of the country. The day has been observed since August 1973 to keep the ecosystem balanced, maintain productive potentials of the land by reducing soil erosion and preserve infrastructure.
