Police nab five involved in robbing gold jewelry



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu police have made public five people arrested for robbing, amid a press conference on Sunday.

The arrestees have been identified as Rabin Damai, 32, of Likhu Rural Municipality in Ramechhap district, Rabi Bishwokarma, 18, of Dharan Sub Metropolitan City-8 in Sunsari district, Umesh Chhetri of Panchkhal Municipality-7 in Kavrepalanchok district, Rahul Majhi, 30, of Leguwa Rural Municipality-7 in Dhankuta district and Shreekanta Maiti, 42, of Paschim Medinipur in West Bengal of India.

They are found to have looted gold jewelry from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley between 5 am and 6 pm, said Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Manoj Kumar KC.

The police seized a gold bar, a gold chain weighing around one tola, two motorcycles used for robbery, six mobile phones, and a gold necklace weighing around 47 grams from the arrestees, he said.
