Koshi Chief Minister Thapa expands cabinet

Inducts two ministers from Maoist Center and one from Nepali Congress

BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister (CM) Uddhav Thapa of Koshi Province expanded the cabinet today.

Chief Minister Thapa appointed two ministers from the Maoist Center and one from the Nepali Congress.

CM Thapa appointed Jeevan Acharya and Rajendra Karki from the Maoist Center, and Ram Kumar Khatri from Nepali Congress.

The newly-appointed ministers took oath of office today itself.

Their portfolios are yet to be finalized, sources said.

Previously, Acharya held the position of Tourism Minister in the government led by Hikmat Kumar Karki of CPN-UML.

Acharya is also the son-in-law of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Thapa, who assumed office on Thursday, took the oath of office on Friday.

On that same day, CM Thapa appointed two ministers – one from the Nepali Congress and another from the Unified Socialist Party.
