ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been arrested outside the High Court in the capital, Islamabad.
Khan was appearing in court on charges of corruption, which he says are politically motivated, BBC said.
According to the report, footage showed dozens of paramilitary forces in armored vehicles detaining Khan after he entered the court compound, then driving him away.
He was ousted as PM in April last year and has been campaigning for early elections since then.
General elections are due to be held later this year.
Mr Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has called on its supporters to protest.
Protesters in the main port city of Karachi blocked a main road, Reuters reported, while police fired water cannon in Islamabad to disperse PTI supporters.
