Two killed in road accident



KATHMANDU: Two persons were killed when a tipper– Ba 5 Kha 2414 — hit two motorcycles at Indrayani of Sankhu in Shankharapur Municipality in Kathmandu last night.

Of the deceased, one was the rider of a motorcycle and the other a pillion rider.

The deceased have been identified as Paban Lal Shrestha, former reporter of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, and one Hari Khadka.

Punam Shrestha was injured in the head-on collision. She has been receiving treatment in Grande International Hospital in Dhapasi, said Superintendent of Police Sitaram Rijal.

Shrestha, 50, of Shankharapur Municipality-7 died in Nepal Medical College, Attarkhel, and Khadka, 22, of the municipality-9 in Shankharapur Hospital, Sankhu, he said.

One of the motorcycles that met with the accident is with a registration number place (Ba 94 Pa 4498), and another with (Ba 82 Pa 8357).

The police arrested absconding driver of the tipper Dinesh Tamang from Sindhupalchok district on the same night.

Tamang has been brought to Kathmandu, and the Police Circle, Gaushala has launched investigations, he said.
