DHANGADHI: After failing to garner the mandatory support for the vote of confidence motion, the Sudurpaschim Province government led by Chief Minister Rajendrasingh Rawal has collapsed within one month of formation.
The CPN-UML-led government, supported by the CPN-Maoist Center, collapsed after failing to get a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly on Thursday.
The provincial government collapsed after the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which has seven lawmakers in the province assembly, refused to give a vote of confidence to CM Rawal.
Chief Minister Rawal’s proposal asking for a vote of confidence has been rejected by the majority.
Earlier, after the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Bhim Bhandari announced the proposal, the MPs of the ruling party demanded for the vote division; however, the Speaker did not divide the vote citing there has been no provision for dividing the vote on the proposal to be discussed.
With the collapse of the provincial government, the meeting of the provincial assembly has also been postponed indefinitely.
