Meeting of high-level mechanism postponed



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the high-level political mechanism comprising the top leaders of the ruling partner parties scheduled for today afternoon has been postponed.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss the election of the country’s President and other contemporary political issues.

The meeting was postponed following a meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli on Thursday afternoon.

UML Chairman Oli is the coordinator of the high-level political mechanism.

The two leaders also discussed the current political situation, the election of the President, Sudurpaschim Province, among other issues.

The election of the President will be held on March 9. However, the political parties have not yet forged a consensus candidate as of today.

According to the agreement reached during the formation of the government, CPN-UML had got the post of President.
