Dahal, Deuba meet 15 days after ‘break-up’ from NC-led coalition

Deuba assures PM Dahal of giving vote of confidence



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ went to meet Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba for the first time after breaking up the then five-party ruling alliance and joining CPN (UML).

Prime Minister Dahal, who is preparing to take the vote of confidence from the Parliament meeting to be held at 11 o’clock on Tuesday, reached Dhumbarahi to seek the support of Deuba.

The CPN-Maoist Center and NC had formed an alliance against the then Prime Minister KP Oli 18 months ago.

According to sources, Prachanda asked Deuba to vote of confidence in Dhumbarahi.

Sources also claimed that NC President Deuba assured PM Dahal of giving vote of confidence to him on Tuesday.

The Maoist Chairman now has the support of 169 MPs.

While voices are being raised within the NC to support the Prachanda-led government, UML Chairman Oli had, on Monday afternoon, indicated of possible talk between the ruling coalition and NC.
