Citizens yet to experience socio-economic rights: former PM Khanal



KATHMANDU: Unified Socialist leader Jhalanath Khanal has said despite the attainment of political rights through various political movements, citizens have yet to fully experience of the realization of their socio-economic rights.

He said people’s right to freedom of opinion, to assemble and so on have been guaranteed, but their socio-economic transformation is still awaited as the class-based exploitation has not been eradicated.

Speaking at a program in Nawalparasi, former Prime Minister Khanal stressed the need to eliminate hunger from the country to bridge the gap caused by class-based discrimination.

He stated that existing capitalism would not put an end to exploitation, advocating for scientific socialism as its alternative.
