Baluwatar talks: NC President Deuba leaves meeting amid lack of consensus

KATHMANDU: The high-level meeting among the prominent leaders of major political parties aimed at resolving the ongoing deadlock in the House of Representatives has persisted for a duration of two hours at Baluwatar.

In attendance are the foremost figures from three key parties, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ along with Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

Notably, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak have exited the meeting hall a short while ago.

Lekhak cited the absence of an accord during the preceding two-hour deliberation.

Participating in these talks are CPN-UML Chairman Oli KP Oli, Vice Chairman Subash Nemwang, Whip Mahesh Bartaula, and Maoist Center’s Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey. They are engaged in dialogue alongside Prime Minister Dahal and Speaker Ghimire.

The CPN-UML has been obstructing the functioning of the House, pressing for the establishment of a high-level inquiry committee to address the gold smuggling case.
