Talks to end Parliament obstruction underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire is currently holding a discussion with leaders, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ in an effort to resolve the ongoing parliamentary obstruction.

The meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Speaker Ghimire is engaged in dialogue aimed at breaking the deadlock with Prime Minister Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Chairman of the primary opposition party CPN-UML, KP Oli.

The CPN-UML has been employing obstruction tactics within the Parliament, pressing for the establishment of a high-level investigation committee to delve into the matter of gold smuggling.

The proceedings of the House of Representatives have faced disruption, leading to the adjournment of three successive meetings.

Initiated by Speaker Ghimire, two meetings were conducted on Monday to foster the smooth operation of the Parliament.

Nonetheless, as of now, no conclusive decisions have been reached.
