Lions Club has democratic role: Speaker Ghimire

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said Lions Club has played a democratic role, thereby contributing to the health, education, and environment sectors.

Inaugurating the first convention of Lions Club International District 325M Nepal here today, Speaker Ghimire said it had also a commendable role in disaster management.

“With the investment of more than Rs 450 million for the 2015 earthquake, this district of Lions Club International helped in facilitating the smooth running of schools with the construction of buildings,” he said, reminding that the concerned agency needs to pay heed, as the Lions Club International was taking a lead to establish a ‘TU Lions Blood Bank’ at TU premises.

On the occasion, district governor Mahendra Poudel viewed he would establish the district with able leadership by identifying and correcting the weaknesses. He viewed Lions Club is an association working on social service.

The Mayor of Pokhara Metropolis, Dhanaraj Acharya, said the Club should be expanded as per its spirit to maintain human sensitivity.
