Our Constitution’s a model for rest of the world: Lumbini CM Giri

DANG: Lumbini Province Chief Minister Leela Giri claimed Nepal’s Constitution was the model for the world from inclusion, proportional and gender perspectives.

He said the Constitution has specified provisions to ensure proportional representation of women in all structures from top to bottom level position of the state. The law of the land has enshrined the rights related to gender equality as the fundamental rights, the chief minster added.

On the occasion of the 113rd International Women’s Day today, CM Giri extended his greetings to all Nepali women at home and abroad. It was made possible to include the issue of women rights in the constitution on the backing of all movements and struggles waged in the past, he added.

“We are moving ahead towards building a equitable and inclusive Nepali society by best utilizing the achievements made through the past struggles”, the CM’s greetings message reads.

The successful implementation of the Constitution would prepare a solid base for building a prosperous nation, Giri said, urging one and all to work together to that end.

On the same occasion, Lumbini Province Speaker Tularam Ghartimagar also extended best wishes to all women.

He lauded the contributions of Nepali women in different movements and struggles waged for democracy and change.

He underlined the need of developing women-friendly policy and practice to prepare the ground for gender equity-based society.
