Chinese Ambassador Song calls on Speaker Ghimire

KATHMANDU: China’s ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

During the meeting that took place at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar, the two exchanged views on bilateral friendly relations between Nepal and China and on exchanges of information about parliamentary affairs.

On the occasion, the Speaker said, “Nepal is committed to the ‘One China’ policy,” acknowledging the Chinese’s medical assistance to Nepal during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also recalled the Chinese assistance to Nepal for post-quake reconstruction efforts, expressing his hope for cooperation from the northern neighbor to re-open the closed trade transit along the Nepal-China border.

On the occasion, the ambassador extended best wishes to the Speaker for his successful term.

He also handed the Speaker a message of best wishes sent by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China, Li Zhanshu, to him.
