UML’s Presidential candidate should be defeated at any cost: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has claimed that Nepali Congress (NC) would try to ensure that the CPN-UML’s Presidential candidate does not win.

Speaking at an interaction program organized in Kathmandu, NC General Secretary Thapa said that his party would defeat the candidate put forward by UML.

“We will defeat the presidential candidate proposed by UML; rather than discussing a particular candidate we are obliged to be alert about the prospective moves from the next President, we do not want to repeat the unfortunate fate of the last parliament,” he said.

Without pronouncing President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s name, he also asserted that there is fear in the hearts of the NC leaders that the next candidate should not be like her.
