KATHMANDU: The federal government has demanded details of grants distributed by local level under different headings.

The government has demanded grants details including grants providing agencies, grant recipient individuals or institutions, effectiveness of grants, increment in production and productivity, contributions to job creation and poverty alleviation from local governments.

“The details were demanded to see what kinds of the grants were flowing under which headings at local level”, said Ananda Kafle, joint-secretary at Ministry of Finance.

Following demand of such details from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration on January 31 had sent a circular to all local governments.

According to the MOFAGA sources, the ministry was working with a plan to submit planning details of the to-be-distributed grants to the ministry of finance within 10 days.

According to the MOFAGA circular, the local governments are obliged to provide details of the grants already distributed and planned to be distributed in the current fiscal year.
