Embankment to stop flood-induced damage from Doda river



MAHENDRANAGAR: An embankment is being constructed to control the erosion by the Doda River in Laljhadi Rural Municipality-3.

The People’s Embankment Office, Mahendranagar, is constructing a 1,120-meter-long embankment along the Doda River at a cost of Rs.59.1 million.

Information Officer, Arun Kumar Shah, said that the embankment construction will be carried in three sections, which will be completed within the current financial year.

Tikaram Chaudhary, the ward chair of Ward No. 3 of the rural municipality, said after the construction of embankment, four hundred families from Nandgaon, Kanj, Kaswa etc. will be protected from the danger posed by the river every monsoon.

He also said that the embankment should be expanded further to protect the rural municipality by making a master plan for it.
