Environment minister Mahato calls for nature-based solutions to tackle climate challenges



DUBAI: Minister for Forests and Environment Dr Birendra Prasad Mahato has stressed the need for adopting measures of solutions based on the nature to address climate change challenges.

He made this statement at the Nepal pavilion on the sidelines of the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in UAE.

Speaking at an interaction with the theme of ‘Building Blocks of Climate Ambition: People, Nature and Action’ organized by the National Trust for Nature Conservation in coordination with the Ministry of Forests and Environment of Nepal, the minister said, “To tackle climate change challenges, it is necessary to protect nature with active participation of the local community through the community-based approach.”

He added, “It was a moment of happiness that the local level was always effortful in this regard while strengthening the equal approach.”

According to him, additional financial resources need to be brought to increase efficiency of all stakeholders and strengthen climate works.
