Asian Games: Karate player Gurung enters final, confirming silver medal



KATHMANDU: Nepali Karate player Erika Gurung has reached the final at the 19th Asian Games taking place in Hangzhou, China.

With this, it is confirmed that Nepal will secure the silver medal which will be the second medal for Nepal.

Karate player Gurung defeated Yan Kai Ho of Hong Kong in the women’s 68-kg category in the semi-finals held today. She made her journey to the final defeating Yan Kai Ho by 8-4 points.

Earlier, in the quarter-final held today itself, Gurung bagged victory by defeating Yujuki Saway of Japan. Both of them had secured equal 1-1 point in the match. However, Gurung won the match on the basis of securing the point first.

Gurung will face Kazakhstan in the final scheduled today itself.

Earlier, Nepal had won a bronze medal in women’s kabaddi.
