100 kg Gold smuggling case: CIB appoints SP Thapa as investigation officer

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police has started an investigation into the smuggling of one quintal of gold.

The CIB has appointed SP Sanjay Singh Thapa as the investigating officer and started the investigation.

On July 18, the gold that was taken out of the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office was seized by the Department of Revenue Investigation from Sinamangal.

The DRI which had been investigating the case handed over the investigation file and the 18 arrested people to the policemen.

Earlier, the police had deputed SP Krishna Pangeni to assist DRI in its investigation.
