Schools in Dhanusha closed after spread of conjunctivitis



DHANUSHA: In the wake of the growing spread of conjunctivitis, schools in Dhanusha district are getting closed gradually.

Janakpur Sub-Metropolis has decided to close schools after the Eye Hospital requested for the initiative to reduce the outbreak of eye disease.

Officiating chief administrative officer of Sub-Metropolis, Mihilal Yadav, issued a press statement, mentioning that all community and institutional schools will remain closed from today to August 11.

The people are also urged to maintain social distance. Similarly, Chhireshwornath Municipality and Mithila Municipality in the district also decided to shut down school from August 7 to August 11 citing the spread of conjunctivitis.

Other municipalities and rural municipalities also followed suit. Medical Director at Janaki Eye Hospital, Dr Ashish Bohora, informed that eye infection was spreading in the district.

The hospital has witnessed crowds of patients for some days.

As many as 850 persons are visiting the hospital daily, while the normal visit was around 650 in the hospital.

Of the total patients visiting the hospital, 150 are found suffering from conjunctivitis every day.

Mostly children are suffering from the disease which has spread in villages.
