Lawmakers to continue discussion on budget even today

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers at the House of Representatives (HoR) are scheduled to continue discussion on budget for the fiscal year 2080/81 today as well.

During Monday’s meeting, parliamentarians said attention should be paid in creating employment as well as appropriate use of local resources.

They stressed that priority should be given to the agriculture sector for the country’s economic prosperity.

Lawmakers also stated that the budget should give priority to industry, agriculture, tourism, road, infrastructure development and disaster management.

The HoR members suggested adopting a policy to increase export and decrease imports as well as to cut the salary of high-ranking government officials by some percentage to reduce general expenditure.
