Vabrousek from Czech Republic wins Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title



KATHMANDU: Petr Vabrousek from Czech Republic won the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title. In women’s category Tara Miranda Parsons from the United States claimed it.

The triathlon considered to be the world’s highest extreme one, started in Pokhara on Saturday morning.

Vabrousek finished 3.8 kilometers swim, 150 km cycling and 43 km run in 16h 51m and 19s.

The tournament started at the lake at 4 am on Saturday and ended at Lwang of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-8 today morning.

Similarly, Enrico Moletti from Italy finished second in 17h 15m and 12s while Giovanni Bortolaso third in 17h 59m 32s.

Also, Parsons completed it in 18h 40m 49s becoming winner in women’s category. Veronika Merchant from Czech Republic finished second in 24h 28m 44s.

Organised by the HimalayanXtri Nepal, the tournament was attended by 36 athletes from 22 countries across the country, said Rikki Yonjan, the race director, the HimalayanXtri Nepal.
