Eight Maoist factions warn of countering activities against CPA and political change



KATHMANDU: Eight Maoist factions have warned of countering and confronting any activities that are against the letter and spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) and political change.

A meeting of eight factions (former Maoists) held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday morning decided to retaliate if any activities are held against the Maoists parties and the CPA.

The leaders also said that serious attention was drawn regarding the transitional justice (TJ) suggesting that all issues related to the peace process should be managed in accordance with the spirit and spirit of the CPA.

The leaders also said that issues related to transitional justice should be taken forward through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

“We are clear that actions contrary to the process of transitional justice will not help the implementation of the CPA,” a statement issued after the meeting said.

The leaders have through the statement “strongly urged the government to take immediate steps for the necessary legal and institutional arrangements to complete the rest of the peace process.”

They also said that they will remain united to counter any activities against the CPA.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Mahindra Rai Yadav, Nepal Communist Party leader Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma Prakanda, and other leaders, including Dharmendra Bastola, CP Gajurel, Bshwa Bhakta Dulal Ahuti, Karnajit Budhathoki, Hemanta Prakash Oli and others.
