Nepal beats India 3-1 to enter SAFF U-20 Women Championship Tournament

Nepal has entered into the final in SAFF U-20 Women Championship Football Tournament.

Nepal defeated India in the SAFF championship tournament underway in Bangladesh to reach the final. Nepal had beaten India 3-1 in today’s match in Dhaka.

USAID Administrator Power announces nearly $60 million to strengthen democratic institutions in Nepal

Administrator Samantha Power, alongside leaders from the Nepali government, civil society, and private sector, announced that USAID will provide up to $58.5 million to advance democratic progress in Nepal, subject to the availability of funds.

US$40.2 million of this announcement is part of the $659 million development objective agreement announced in 2022.

Foreign Minister Paudyal and USAID’s Administrator discuss Nepal-US interests

Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Dr Bimala Rai Poudyal.

In a meeting held at the ministry on Tuesday, they discussed diverse matters related to the Nepal-US mutual interests, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Agendas including the execution of the US assistance Millennium Challenge Corporation, climate change and assistance to be provided to Nepal after graduation from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) status were discussed in the meeting.

Public holidays need to be reviewed: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that public service delivery has been affected due to a large number of government holidays while calling for a review of it.

Speaking at the meeting of the Democracy Day Main Celebration Committee at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers today, Prime Minister Dahal said, “Our official holidays have become too many. This has limited time to serve the people. We have also discussed in the Council of Ministers that this needs to be reviewed.”

Prime Minister Dahal and UML Chairman Oli hold talks

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML President KP Sharma Oli held talks on various issues, including the election of the country’s President.

Prime Minister’s Secretariat said during the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, the two leaders discussed issues such as the President’s election, and government functioning, among others.

NUP to refrain giving vote of confidence to CM Rawal, Sudurpaschim govt likely to face crisis

The Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has decided not to give a vote of confidence to Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Rajendra Rawal.

NUP chairperson Ranjita Shrestha Chowdhury informed that the meeting of the Party held in Dillibazar on Tuesday decided not to give a vote of confidence to the Sudurpaschim government of Far West Province.

Chairman Chaudhary and Sudurpaschim Parliamentary Party leader Rameshwar Chaudhary participated in the meeting held in the presence of Resham Chaudhary in Dillibazar jail.

Kathmandu Metropolis removes structure used as Maitidevi police post

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has demolished the structures used as police station at Maitidevi, Kathmandu on Tuesday.

As part of the Metropolis campaign to remove encroaching structures, the police beat at Maiti Devi Chowk was removed by the city police in collaboration with the police.
