KATHMANDU: The documentary titled “The Plea of the Mountain,” illustrating the repercussions of climate change in Nepal, was featured during COP28, the UN Climate Change Conference held in Dubai, hosted by the United Arab Emirates.
The documentary sheds light on the devastating effects of climate change on biodiversity, particularly the depletion of snow and ice in iconic mountains like Mt Everest and Mt Annapurna. It also addresses the destruction caused by floods and landslides in regions such as Manang, Mustang, Helambu, Melamchi, Phuskundo, and various locations in the terai region.
Functioning as a voice for these affected regions, the documentary advocates for climate justice in Nepal. Renowned senior journalist Bal Krishna Basnet wrote and directed the film.
This follows the screening of another documentary by Basnet, titled “Voice for Climate Justice,” during COP27.
