Foreign Secretary Poudyal retires; Lamsal takes on acting Secretary role



KATHMANDU: After 37 years of dedicated civil service, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal has officially retired. Poudyal shared the news on social media, stating, “I have taken retirement from my 37-year-long civil service career today.”

The government has put forth Poudyal’s name for the position of Nepali Ambassador to Canada, a recommendation that has already received approval from the parliamentary hearing committee.

Following Secretary Poudyal’s mandatory retirement, the responsibility of acting foreign secretary has been assigned to Sewa Lamsal, a senior Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
