Jajarkot-earthquake claims lives of numerous Children: Nearly half the victims were children

SURKHET: Disturbing findings reveal that nearly half of the earthquake victims from the devastating tremor that struck on Friday were innocent children.

Police data has confirmed that out of the 157 individuals who tragically lost their lives during the November 3 earthquake, a heartbreaking total of 78 were children. Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Roka reported that 50 children lost their lives in Jajarkot, while 28 children perished in Rukum West due to the earthquake.

District Police Chief Namraj Bhattarai in Rukum West added that out of the 52 casualties recorded in the district, 28 were children, emphasizing that the majority of victims in Rukum West were children, with even two 10-month-old infants losing their lives.

In Jajarkot, the police have reported that among the 105 deceased individuals, 50 were children, 33 were women and 18 were men. In Rukum West, the earthquake claimed the lives of 16 women and eight men.
