Maoist Center postpones Kathmandu-centered mass demonstration

KATHMANDU: The ruling Maoist Center party has deferred the Kathmandu-centric mass demonstration initially planned for December 8.

According to Dev Gurung, the General Secretary of the Maoist Center, the decision was made in response to the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Jajarkot.

“Given the current circumstances, we have postponed the mass demonstration on December 8,” he said.

However, demonstrations at the local municipality and ward levels will remain unaffected, he added.

The Maoist Center had previously issued a circular outlining the plan for a mass demonstration in Kathmandu as part of a collaborative effort involving Bagmati Province, and other organizations.
