NC needs to hold special convention by mid-January to strengthen party unity: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has announced that the party is moving forward to hold a special convention by mid-January (Poush end) to strengthen internal unity and ensure the party is capable of fulfilling its national responsibilities.

Thapa stressed that convening the special convention is not only a statutory requirement but also essential for boosting confidence among party members and providing a platform for expressing differing views.

This convention will help the party build the confidence required to play a strong national role. True confidence comes from unity, which arises when diverse opinions are expressed on a common platform,” he said.

He called on all party leaders and workers to cooperate and actively participate in the process, highlighting that internal cohesion is crucial for the party to fulfill its national duties.

The special convention is seen as a key step for Nepali Congress to strengthen its organizational structure, reinforce collective responsibility, and prepare for upcoming political challenges.

Marking National Unity and Reconciliation Day, Thapa recalled that 49 years ago, leaders like BP Koirala and Ganeshman Singh returned from Indian exile under challenging circumstances, demonstrating the importance of unity and collective responsibility in nation-building.
