Jajarkot earthquake: 157 bodies handed over to families

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the identities of 157 individuals who perished in the devastating Jajarkot earthquake, facilitating the repatriation of their remains to their relatives.

Ministry Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai emphasized the comprehensive engagement of all governmental entities in the ongoing efforts for search, rescue, and relief management.

He further noted that the injured survivors have started returning home following necessary medical treatment.

As per official data, the earthquake claimed the lives of 99 women and 58 men.

Among the casualties, Jajarkot accounted for 152 women and 33 men, while Rukum West recorded 52 women and 25 men.

Of the 256 individuals injured, 146 have been discharged after receiving medical care, whereas 110 continue to undergo treatment for their injuries.
